{"id":651,"date":"2024-08-14T20:23:16","date_gmt":"2024-08-14T20:23:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/support.smartcitytelecom.com\/?post_type=ht_kb&#038;p=651"},"modified":"2024-08-14T20:23:17","modified_gmt":"2024-08-14T20:23:17","slug":"creating-a-new-answering-rule-with-a-simultaneous-ring","status":"publish","type":"ht_kb","link":"https:\/\/smartcitynetworks.com\/hvsupport\/article\/creating-a-new-answering-rule-with-a-simultaneous-ring\/","title":{"rendered":"Creating a new Answering Rule with a Simultaneous Ring"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you want to create a rule when receiving an incoming call during business hours to ring your extension for 45 seconds before sending the call to voicemail, then after 10 seconds ring your cell phone, then after 30 seconds, ring a receptionist\u2019s extension, and go to voicemail after business hours, follow these steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>On the Answering Rule page, adjust the <em>Ring for timeout<\/em> option to 45 seconds.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Create a new rule by clicking <em>Add Rule<\/em> in the Answering Rules center.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On the Add an Answering Rule window select the <em>Time Frame<\/em> you would like the rule to be in effect.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make sure <em>Enabled<\/em> has a checked box.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click the <em>Simultaneous ring<\/em> option under Call Forwarding.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <em>Include user\u2019s extension <\/em>to ring our phone.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enable <em>Answer confirmation for offnet numbers<\/em> so your cell phone voicemail does not take the call if your voicemail answers the call.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the <em>Extension, number, or phone field<\/em> enter the cell phone number you would like to ring then click the <em>Ring Delay<\/em> option and slide to 10 seconds.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Then click the <em>plus sign <\/em>next to the <em>Extension, number, or phone field<\/em> and in the new window that appears enter the extension of the receptionist 1003 and click <strong>Save<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"700\" height=\"666\" src=\"https:\/\/smartcitynetworks.com\/hvsupport\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Asn-rule.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-652\" style=\"width:671px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/smartcitynetworks.com\/hvsupport\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Asn-rule.png 700w, https:\/\/smartcitynetworks.com\/hvsupport\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Asn-rule-300x285.png 300w, https:\/\/smartcitynetworks.com\/hvsupport\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Asn-rule-50x48.png 50w, https:\/\/smartcitynetworks.com\/hvsupport\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Asn-rule-60x57.png 60w, https:\/\/smartcitynetworks.com\/hvsupport\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Asn-rule-100x95.png 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Once the answering rule is created<span style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\">, it will appear in the Answering Rules list, as shown below. If the time frame you select is in effect, then the rule will be marked\u00a0<em>Active<\/em><\/span>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\">To send calls directly to voicemail after hours, click the\u00a0<em>edit<\/em>\u00a0icon for the default answering rules.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On the <em>Edit<\/em> Answering Rule for the default rule, select <em>Always<\/em> in the <em>Call Forwarding<\/em> options, enter your extension, select voicemail, and click save.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Then, slide the rule with the during business hours selected to the top of the answering rules and the default on the bottom as shown below.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"265\" src=\"https:\/\/smartcitynetworks.com\/hvsupport\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/An-rule-hours.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-653\" srcset=\"https:\/\/smartcitynetworks.com\/hvsupport\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/An-rule-hours.png 1024w, https:\/\/smartcitynetworks.com\/hvsupport\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/An-rule-hours-300x78.png 300w, https:\/\/smartcitynetworks.com\/hvsupport\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/An-rule-hours-768x199.png 768w, https:\/\/smartcitynetworks.com\/hvsupport\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/An-rule-hours-50x13.png 50w, https:\/\/smartcitynetworks.com\/hvsupport\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/An-rule-hours-60x16.png 60w, https:\/\/smartcitynetworks.com\/hvsupport\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/An-rule-hours-100x26.png 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With the configuration, when your extension receives calls during business hours, your extension will ring. After 10 seconds, your cell phone will start ringing in addition to your extension. After 30 seconds, it will ring the receptionist at extension 1003.
